Historic Black Powder Guns

Antique Rifles is a comprehensive selection of historic long barrel black powder firearms. This library features heavy weight military and civilian weapons commonly used throughout the 1800s into the mid 1900s.

The coach gun, known as the cut-down shotgun, was made famous in the American Wild West by historical figures like Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday. Coach Guns were also used on stage coaches by shotgun messengers and were commonplace amongst homestead farmers, landowners and outlaws alike.

The Enfield 1861 Artillery Carbine with smooth bore barrel was a popular weapon during the mid 1800s with military forces in Europe and America. Enfield carbine rifles were used extensively in the American civil war.

The black powder hammer gun is manufactured by legendary gunsmiths Westley Richards. This 1864 design of breech loading shotgun was instrumental to the advancement of firearms in the 19th century.

The 1872 Snider Enfield .577 rifle was favoured by the British army and used in the Zulu war of 1879. The Snider Enfield was also used by the British Indian army until the end of the 19th century.

This library features 29 channel HD recordings, spread over a 500m private gun range. The recordings have been provided without dynamic processing at 96KHz 24bit, a selection of range recordings are also included at 192KHz 32bit.

The 5.1 recordings give an excellent sense of depth and space across the 500m range as each of the shots are fired. Stereo and mono microphone positions add further detail, spread out at various distances between 1-50m away from the shooter.

The collection features designed and mixed sound effects from black powder antique rifles alongside all of the original recordings used.

In addition to a full workup and mixed sound set of these antique firearms, the library also includes a further extension to the Foley with recordings from a San Cristobal Americana and Valmet Sako rifles.

A Pro Tools session is included that takes all the effort out of arranging the content for mixing. You can drop in your own routing, processing and mixing touches according to taste and quickly establish a new sound set for the picture or video game you are working with.
