1940 Military Gear is a unique collection of vehicles and Foley recordings, captured over several sessions in a Foley studio and on location with vehicles. The library features three trucks used extensively by the allied forces in WWII and then beyond into the Vietnam war era and other historic conflicts of the mid-20th century.

The Iconic U.S Army truck was the first off road vehicle of its kind. This vehicle has many sonic characteristics, most prominently its loud gearbox whine at low speeds combined with authentic Jerry can and equipment rattle. The Jeep model has been used in every major conflict since its inception in 1939/40.

The Chevrolet and GMC trucks are used extensively for cargo, equipment haulage and troop movement. Each truck can be customised and adapted according to where its deployed, acting as people or logistics carriers.

All vehicles have been recorded live in a WWII recreation scenario. Onboard recordings have been captured from the passenger point of view at various locations on the vehicles. This makes the recordings sound very authentic. These recordings are particularly useful for dialogue and action scenes where actors are located on the vehicle or driving the vehicle from a first- or third-person perspective. Some external recordings have also been included.

The equipment Foley has been recorded using authentic props from the 1940s era that would typically constitute cargo and equipment loaded onto trucks such as the G506 or CCKW 353. Jerry cans were used primarily for carrying petrol fuel. The NATO issue 20L Jerry can is metal in construction and commonly seen attached to U.S Army Truck Jeeps for refuel purposes.
